The articles/goods/items of any nature lost or misplaced at the Mall premises (the “Lost Items” or “Lost Item”) will continue to be treated as the property of its owner and upon being found, neither the Mall nor any of its employees or staff shall have any right or claim to it.
The Lost Items, under no circumstances, should be automatically returned to the claimant/ owner without due verification and without following the procedures prescribed in this Policy.
In the event of failure of the owner to collect the Lost Items despite lapse of the prescribed period, these items may be disposed of in accordance with the provisions of the Policy.
APPLICABILITY
The provisions of the Policy will come into force with effect from 15th May, 2022.
The contents of the Policy will supersede all previous instructions, policies, office orders issued on the subject.
The provisions of the Policy will also be applicable to the Lost Items presently held by the management of the Mall.
The “Manager Floor Operations” of the Mall will be the custodian of the Lost and Found Items until returned to the owner or disposed of in accordance with this Policy.
RECEIPT PROCEDURE
As soon as any Lost Item is found in the Mall: a. By any guest or visitor at the Mall, such guest or visitor may kindly hand over the Lost Item to a security guard or hand over the same to the Customer Services Desk. b. By any member of the Mall staff, any employee of the Mall, a tenant of the Mall or its employee, or the employee of a contractor/service provider engaged by the Mall (collectively referred to as the “Staff Member” for the purposes of this Policy) itself or on account of having been handed over by a guest or visitor, it will be the responsibility of such Staff Member to hand over the same to the Customer Services Desk (“CS Desk“);
All Lost Items received at the CS Desk (the “Deposited Items”) must be recorded in a lost and found register (the “Register”), stating the brief particulars of the found item, date and time, the place where the Lost Item was found, and: Real a. In all cases where the finder/depositor is a Staff Member, the CS Desk shall enter his name and designation and shall obtain his signatures; b. In all cases, where the finder/depositor is a guest or visitor, the CS Desk name shall request him/her to provide his/her name, contact number, and signatures. If the guest/visitor does not wish to provide his/her details, the CS Desk shall record this fact in the Register.
STORAGE
The Deposited Items will be tagged with a unique log number and properly stored so as to ensure their safety and proper upkeep, keeping in view the nature of the Deposited Item.
Where the Lost Item is a valuable item including, but not limited to, cash, cheques, jewelry items, electronic devices, wallets, laptops, Computerized National Identity Cards, Debit or Credit Card(s), driving license, passport, Vehicle Registrations, (the “Valuables”), the CS Desk will make suitable arrangements for the safe custody of the Valuables.
The Mobile(s) should be kept under custody and be kept switched on for at least twenty-four hours after being deposited or until the battery ends so that if the owner calls his number, he can be guided that the Mobile Phone is available at the CS Desk. Up to the first three calls received on a Mobile Phone may be attended by the CS Desk and the caller should be informed that the Mobile Phone is available at the CS Desk.
Where the owner of the Lost Items can be identified from the items, e.g., bank cards, driving license, business cards, an announcement will be made immediately and the item will be handed over to a claimant after due verification.
Items like Computerized National Identity Cards, driving licenses, and passports, if not claimed upon announcement, shall be kept in safe custody for fifteen (15) days. If a contact number is provided in these documents, at least one attempt should be made to establish contact. If contact cannot be established, and if no claim is made within the aforesaid period, the said items will be disposed of as per TITAT the terms of this Policy.
Credit and Debit Cards (the “Cards”) shall immediately be sealed in a non transparent envelop, after copying the name of the cardholder on the envelop. If not claimed upon announcement, they shall be kept in safe custody for fifteen (15) days. After the expiry of the said period, the Cards will be disposed of as per the terms of this Policy.
Edible items will be stored till the end of the day and in case no claim is made, will be disposed of as per the terms of this Policy.
In case the Deposited Item is a pet, it will be retained for twenty four hours. If no claim is made, it will be dealt with as per this Policy.
CLAIMS PROCEDURE
Any person seeking to reclaim the Deposited Items must be able to identify the item in some detail.
The claimant must approach the CS Desk and: a. Fill out a form, stating his contact details and providing a copy of his CNIC b. Satisfy the CS Desk as to the particulars of the Deposited Items or another identity document; c. Acknowledge safe return of the Deposited Item; d. Sign the Register.
Once the item is handed over to the claimant, an appropriate entry shall be made in the Register maintained by the CS Desk.
DISPOSAL PROCEDURE
All the Deposited Items and Valuables shall be held in storage for a period of not more than sixty (60) days. If no claim is received during that period, such items shall be delivered to the nearest police station after preparing an inventory of those items.
Edible items will be stored till the end of the day and will be disposed of by the Mall management.
MISCELLANEOUS
If any Staff Member fails to comply with the Policy and is found guilty of keeping the Lost Items or delaing with it in any manner otherwise than as stated herein, strict disciplinary action will be taken against him/her including, but not limited to, the termination from employment.
All the Deposited Items shall be disposed after proper consultation and approval by the General Manager of the Mall.
